The Kaiser

Prussia / Preußen / Germany

prussia posen thorn breslau koenigsberg

The word Kaiser is generally used to describe the Emperors of the German Empire, the Kingdom of Prussia, and the Emperors of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. The German Empire, was ruled according to the constitution by the Prussian King. Perhaps, the best known Kaiser in English-speaking countries being Wilhelm II of Germany, during whose reign the monarchy in Germany ended with his abdication in 1918. More about Kaiser Wilhelm.

Here are seven old picture postcards from our fairly extensive German picture archive featuring the Kaiser and his family. These were all produced between 1901 and 1917.
